MODERN WINES MADE RESPECTING TRADITION TO OBTAIN THE HIGHEST QUALITY

Ferratus has become in the last twenty years a prominent winegrower in the Ribera del Duero appellation of Spain.

20 hectares of vineyards in ownership and 15 controlled, some of them over 60 years old, planted at an altitude of over 860 meters, grown on different types of soil. Located on different carefully chosen locations in the Ribera del Duero area to provide FERRATUS with the best Tempranillo grapes.

The San Juan del Monte vineyard, 17 hectares, 25 years old, at almost 900 meters of altitude, is an element of pride and a guarantee of quality for our wines.

Ferratus owns three hectares of goblet-pruned vines in the Pago de Santa Cruz Estate naturally protected against adverse weather conditions and grow at an altitude of about 860 meters. They are a grape-producing treasure, the best guarantee to produce the quality expected from our FERRATUS Sensaciones wine.

Ferratus owns three hectares of goblet-pruned vines in the Pago de Santa Cruz Estate naturally protected against adverse weather conditions and grow at an altitude of about 860 meters. They are a grape-producing treasure, the best guarantee to produce the quality expected from our FERRATUS Sensaciones wine. 

The Tempranillo or Tinta Fina is native to the riparian lands, and is the only variety used for FERRATUS red wines and rosé. The white wine is produced 100% with Albillo Mayor.

Ferratus is already 100% renewable energy self-sufficient, allowing its sustainable growth.

We currently produce 180,000 bottles although the winecellar’s capacity is 300,000 bottles.

María Luisa Cuevas, owner and managing director, had the foresight to form a great team to help her face this exciting challenge to create our very own winemaking cellar in the Ribera del Duero and vineyards produce amazing wines. María Luisa is a winegrower and a businesswoman. 

I’m at the head of this winegrowing concern, with its small production but great quality. It is an honor to lead a fantastic team which allows me to take care of every single detail and see my customers smile halfway around the world”.

Emmanuel Ivars

A fundamental part of the FERRATUS team is Emmanuel Ivars, winemaker, French and passionate about his profession. 

Through the terroir and meticulous work in the vineyard, I intend to bring out the character and great ageing capacity of the Tempranillo grape to produce full-bodied, elegant, rich and long-lived red and rosé wines. Very soon, we’ll add a white to the Ferratus family.

It is a well-known fact all around the world that Spain is a country of wines. That is not surprising considering that the country has more vineyards planted than any other, is second in the world in terms of wine production and includes 69 designations of origin, acting as guarantees of quality wines.

The Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin is not an old one, but it is the heir to a long tradition going back 2,000 years. The designation of origin as it is today established in 1982 and its wines now appear in the rankings of the best in Spain and in the world, thanks to the conjunction of vines, soil and climate, together with the preparation, commitment to quality and great effort of its winemakers and vine-growers, who have managed to position its wines among those most in demand in Spain and abroad.

The banks of the River Duero cover 115 kilometers from Burgos to Valladolid. Along them, vineyards and cereal crops succeed one another on slopes, plains and hills that change color from green to reddish and ocher as the seasons advance. An enviable environment at any time of year, it bravely bears the frosts and snows of the hard winters and the midsummer temperature contrasts between the cold of the night and the heat of day.
